Enlightening Bavarian Discotapes. It's the first collection in this style I have ever heard about. I met DJ Mooner once, at the sunny Zürich lakeside, He was waiting for a party where he would be djing later. We had coffee and soon figured out that we have some friends in common. At that time, around 2005, he was working on his Cosmic compilation for Compost Records. Seriously, this DJ is seriously fun.
This compilation originally was a moodboard for an upcoming movie called "Kleine Lichter" starring Franka Potente. I put it together after a meeting with director Josef Rusnak to whom I was recommended for soundtrack advisory.
The movie is about a sad woman, who films herself in everyday life, talking about her feelings for her comatose lover.
Months later, I rediscovered the mix. Even though the soundtrack project failed, listening to it now is great. It's a movie on its own. An intimate winter journey. Listen to it when being on your own. Listen to it when thinking about last year right before New Years Eve.
